Reflecting on International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day is the perfect opportunity to reflect on how many brilliant women there are within #TeamECS.
As Managing Director, I have the privilege of working with an incredible team and today gives a real opportunity to think about all the brilliant women across #TeamECS. Whether that be those working operationally at events or as part of our ambulance operations, those teaching across our education centre, or those holding everything together as part of our office team (and of course keeping me in check!), this team are truly phenomenal.
What stands out for me is their unwavering commitment to our ethos and standards, their tenacity and resilience. So many have, and continue to be, there for me and are certainly some of the people I look to in a time of crisis.
Whilst ECS has grown a significant amount over the last few years, there are a few elements that we try hard not to lose. Firstly, our family feel. I hold my parents in such high regard and they have both supported and been a part of the ECS growth from the outset. Coming into Mother’s Day too, it wouldn’t be a post about Internal Women’s Day without a special mention to my Mum!
Secondly, ECS has always been a place where everyone should feel welcome. I cherish that close to my heart and I love the fact that we have so many women across our leadership teams, our operations teams and of course those who have been with us right from the outset, covering any role thrown at them (you know who you are!). No doubt, there is more work to do, and I am so glad to see so many organisations taking an active part in this day.
To me, International Women’s Day is about remembering, and for some realising, just how brilliant women are. Personally I believe we wouldn’t be where we are today without their drive, common sense and expertise. So to all the women in #TeamECS, thank you! Here’s to many more International Women’s Days!
